After reading the information sheet about this course, I noticed that it is going to be very similar to my experience when I took ENG 101, especially with the tasks after each reading where you post something about the reading like a reflection, a summary, or an opinion you have about it. There is also the part where you give feedback to one of your classmates about their work on the reading to let them know if there is something they need to improve on or to simply show that you enjoyed their work.
What seems to be different are the readings themselves, since for this course we are going to focus on poetry, drama, and fiction, whereas in ENG 101 we mostly read biographies and autobiographies. How I am taking the subject is also different because I took ENG 101 in person, and for this class, I am taking it asynchronously.
I am excited to work on fictions because I am a big fan of it. One of my favorite fiction book series is the Percy Jackson series. I was never much of a reader; in fact, I did not even like reading at all. However, when my sister introduced me to the Percy Jackson series, I got hooked. Another reason why I came to love fiction is how they activate the reader’s imagination by simply using words to describe a person, place, thing, or even a moment, which make you feel like you are in the story yourself. I am looking forward to learning a lot during this course.
