I didn’t take ENG 101, but I opted for the ENA course, which, in my opinion, is quite similar to ENG 101 and allowed me to improve my writing skills. After reviewing the ENG 102 course description, I found several similarities. Like in ENA, we are expected to read articles, analyze texts, and write. Both courses emphasize literature and writing. However, I think there’s a difference in the degree of freedom in choosing topics. In my previous course, most of the papers we had to write were on topics we chose ourselves, which allowed me to work at my own pace and progress comfortably. In ENG 102, it seems the focus will be on specific genres, such as poetry and complex literature, which will help me study challenging texts rather than focusing solely on my own interests. Another difference is that my classes at ENA were in-person, while this course is asynchronous, and it is the first time I’m taking this type of course. I am particularly eager to improve my analytical skills and explore these new forms of literature. I look forward to seeing how this course will help me gain confidence in my writing style and get back into the habit of taking the time to reflect on my work instead of rushing through it.
