Blog Post #1

After reading the ENG 102 information sheet, I can see how this course connects to ENG 101 while also being different in important ways. In ENG 101, which I took at another university in a physical classroom setting, the main focus was on developing basic writing skills such as organizing ideas, writing clear essays, and revising drafts. We regularly did freewriting exercises, which is somewhat similar to the blog posts in ENG 102, and we also participated in debates and group activities that encouraged discussion and critical thinking. The difference is the way writing is approached. ENG 102 requires frequent blog posts and short responses, encouraging regular reading and reflection rather than focusing solely on long essays

I’m really excited about digging into literary analysis and coming up with my own interpretations of the readings. This kind of work connects with habits I already have as a reader and writer, like annotating texts, thinking about themes, and revising my writing to make my ideas clearer. Overall, ENG 102 feels like a great next step that will help me build on what I learned in ENG 101 and strengthen my critical thinking and writing skills.
